Charlotte Brohmeyer lives and works as a freelance artist in Berlin. She is a graduate of the BA Contemporary Dance at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne and MA Scenic Research at the Ruhr University in Bochum. The combination of these two programs, with the first focussing on dance practice and the latter on artistic research, also forms the interface of her projects between choreographic practice and theory. Two constants within her artistic activity are on the one hand the physical examination of the body as material and on the other exploring the relationships between human bodies and objects.
In this context, she developed several solos and duets, including Von Fall zu Fall, (Re-)actions, Paperwork, Things will happen while they can and Minimal. Most recently, she presented the installative duet Wraps & Clicks at Kunsthaus Essen.
As a dancer she worked with e.g. Omar Rajeh, Georg Reischl, Sara Wookey, Yaron Shamir, Martin Sonderkamp, Reut Shemesh, Helder Seabra, Valerie Kommer, Guy Nader, Niels Weijer, Antonia Baehr, Toula Limnaios and Fabian Cohn.
In addition to her work as a freelance dancer and choreographer, she teaches Contemporary Dance at various institutions like Profitraining Köln e.V., ehrenfeldstudios e.V., Dock11 Berlin, Marameo Berlin e.V., Contact Improvisation and Brazilian Couple Dances. Since 2014, she has been teaching as a certified Pilates teacher the body awareness method with great enthusiasm.
Charlotte is co-founder of the make a move collective, which creates choreographies on the threshold of Contemporary Dance and Parkour and deals with alternative perspectives on urban spaces.
